The drinks, named Oleato, debuted in Italy in February 2023 after former CEO Howard Schultz visited the nation and observed locals consuming olive oil day by day. The line of olive oil-infused espresso drinks launched the next month in choose U.S. Starbucks shops and met destructive early evaluations, with The New Yorker saying the drink “tasted like a big spoonful of olive oil in espresso.”
