House Republicans reintroduce bill to repeal ‘death tax’

House Republicans this week reintroduced laws to completely repeal what they’re calling the “demise tax” — or federal estate tax, which is levied on inherited property above a sure worth.

Introduced by Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa, with help from 162 lawmakers, the Death Tax Repeal Act follows previous Republican proposals to abolish estate taxes, together with a Senate bill from early 2023.

However, there hasn’t been bipartisan help for repealing the property tax, and it is unlikely to be enacted by way of the present break up Congress, specialists say.
