The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear an appeal difficult a court docket ruling that disqualified former President Donald Trump from showing on the Republican major ballot in Colorado because of his incitement of the 2021 Capitol riot.
The Supreme Court mentioned it will hear oral arguments in the case on Feb. 8.
Colorado’s personal state Supreme Court in a Dec. 19 ruling upheld a trial court docket choose’s choice barring Trump from the first ballot because of a provision in the U.S. Constitution.
Plaintiffs in that case had efficiently argued that Trump was disqualified from being a presidential candidate as a result of he had spurred the rebel that sought to overturn his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden.
Section 3 of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment says that “no particular person” can function an officer of the United States who, having beforehand taken an oath of federal workplace, “engaged in rebel or rebel” towards the U.S.”
