Southwest Airlines flight attendants would get 36% cumulative pay will increase in a new five-year contract, in line with particulars of the tentative settlement shared with crews Wednesday.

The flight attendants are the newest aviation labor group to win proposed pay hikes after fraught years-long negotiations for new labor particulars. Pilots, flight attendants and different airline employees argued they went years with out raises after the Covid-19 pandemic derailed talks and had pressed firms for larger compensation and higher work guidelines as journey returned.

The new labor deal features a 20% elevate in January on the deal’s signing and three% after, plus retroactive raises going again to late 2019, in line with a union message to flight attendants.

The deal remains to be topic to ratification by the union’s members. Flight attendants are scheduled to start out voting on the tentative settlement mid-November.
