Microsoft submits new Activision Blizzard takeover deal to British regulator after initial block

Microsoft on Tuesday submitted a new deal to U.Okay. regulators for the takeover of Activision Blizzard after the rejection of its initial proposal.

The U.S. know-how large first put forward the $69 billion acquisition of Activision in January 2022 however has since confronted regulatory challenges within the U.S., Europe and U.Okay.

On Tuesday, the U.Okay.’s Competition and Markets Authority confirmed it has blocked the unique deal. However, it stated each Microsoft and Activision have agreed to a new, restructured settlement, which can now be investigated by the CMA with a call deadline of Oct. 18.

Under the restructured deal, Microsoft is not going to purchase cloud rights for current Activision PC and console video games, or for new video games launched by Activision throughout the subsequent 15 years, the CMA stated.

Instead, these rights will likely be divested to sport writer Ubisoft Entertainment prior to Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, the CMA added.
