JetBlue Airways reached a deal to buy Spirit Airlines, hours after the low cost provider scrapped plans to merge with Frontier Airlines.

JetBlue stated it should pay $33.50 a share in money for Spirit.

A JetBlue acquisition of Spirit would create the nation’s fifth-largest provider, and if permitted by regulators, would go away Frontier as the biggest low cost provider within the U.S.
