CNN boss Jeff Zucker resigns, says he failed to disclose office relationship

CNN President Jeff Zucker resigned Wednesday after revealing he failed to disclose what he referred to as a “consensual relationship with my closest colleague” throughout a probe of former community host Chris Cuomo.

“I used to be required to disclose it when it started, however I did not,” Zucker mentioned in an announcement about that relationship, with the unidentified lady with whom he had labored for greater than 20 years.

“I used to be mistaken.”

“As a end result, I’m resigning at the moment,” he mentioned.

CNN declined to remark when contacted by CNBC.

The New York Times recognized the lady as Allison Gollust, government vice chairman and chief advertising and marketing officer for CNN Worldwide.

Gollust beforehand served as communications director for former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s the older brother of Chris Cuomo.

In an announcement to The Times, Gollust mentioned, “Jeff and I’ve been shut associates {and professional} companions for over 20 years.”

“Recently, our relationship modified throughout Covid. I remorse that we did not disclose it on the proper time. I’m extremely happy with my time at CNN and look ahead to persevering with the nice work we do on a regular basis,” Gollust mentioned.
